Board Elections: An Invitation to Join

A message from Georgina Whitchurch, Chair of PWV’s Board, and an invitation to nominate for the 2020-21 Board.

We are approaching our Annual General Meeting, which will be held in November 2020. It’s likely this will need to be held online.

At each AGM we elect our new Board. The current Board would love to talk to members or to other persons interested in exploring life as a Board member.

I can assure you that it is a great way to honour and acknowledge the organisation that has your back. It is a great opportunity to be part of the organisation providing support and advocacy for women living with HIV. We are from many countries, many walks of life and ages, with many stories to tell.

If you have passion for what PWV is doing for us, and would like to participate in the journey that is now over 30 years in existence, please feel free to contact me initially on the email listed and I will contact you and make a time for further discussion.

The nomination process is straightforward, and you can nominate yourself for the Board, or you may also have another member put forward a nomination. Nominations are open to, and very welcome from, women living with HIV and who are Members of Positive Women Victoria. Nominations are also welcomed from Associate Members of the organisation (those who support our work) for those who would like to contribute their skills to our future.

This year, we expect the AGM will be conducted online, due to ongoing restrictions. While this isn’t what we would choose, we will do our best to make it a welcoming event for you, despite the fact that we much prefer to see you in person, and greet you with hugs and laughter.

To nominate for the Board of Positive Women Victoria you will need to complete a form. These need to be received by 5pm, Friday 9 October, and are available by calling or emailing Positive Women Victoria, info@positivewomen.org.au.

As the current Chair of the Board of Positive Women Victoria, I am very keen to ensure our members remain safe, healthy and supported by our staff as much as it is possible in this situation. Like most people, I long for the time we can toss the masks and have a major event for all members, staff and the board to celebrate together some form of freedom.
