Calls For Improved HIV testing – HIV Medicine article

Australia has reached global HIV targets for treatment and viral suppression—but around 1 in 20 people with HIV may still not know their status.
A new article in HIV Medicine highlights the need to improve HIV testing by expanding options like opt-out testing, self-testing kits, and point-of-care testing.
The article shares insights from a national roundtable in Melbourne, where experts and leaders from the HIV community including from Positive Women Victoria came together to address key barriers like stigma, limited access, and healthcare provider hesitation.
Achieving the UNAIDS 95% diagnosis goal means making testing easier, fairer, and more inclusive.
